Today I was asked if I was a feminist because my favorite book is “Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women” by Elizabeth Wurtzel. The term “feminist” really annoys me. I understand that it was important back in the day and it started the revolution. I truly do believe that when feminism began it was because “feminism [REALLY WAS] the radical notion that women are people” but today it holds so much stigma. It’s all about women so are angry, aggressive, unshaven and dick biting Lorena Bobbitt types (side note; the doctor should have refused to reattach John Bobbitt’s penis. Just sayin). Today you don’t have to be a feminist to believe that women are people. You just need to have a bit of self respect and a proper fitting bra I say!

To quote a good woman; (and I will be quoting a lot of good women and men in this post, because this rant has all be said before) You don’t have to be anti-man to be pro-woman. ~Jane Galvin Lewis. Anytime I am called a feminist, I’m offended on some level. To anyone who can’t just love women because they are, a feminist can’t be pretty or sexy or respect her body and still love her life and her men. She can’t have a few good men during the week and leave her weekends open to possibilities. She’s not allowed to dance all night in 6 inch heels and a push up bra (or a double push up if you’re feeling risque!). And she’s certainly not allowed to love and respect men the same way she loves and respects herself. Which, I believe, are all the things that women are/should finally be able to take advantage of. It’s as if women can’t just be equal with men, we are either a (ball bustin’) feminist or a (sniveling, cowardly) anti-feminist. To sum this all up, I think Rebecca West said it best with “I myself have never been able to find out what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute.” 98 years later and we are still so confused.

So I’m not going to be a feminist, I’m going to be a humanist. I’m going to love the people around me for who they are (even if they piss me off hourly), but I’m going to love them as people, as humans. Not for their gender or sexual orientation or their skin colour or if they fit into a 00 at Banana Republic.

On a personal note, or more personal than my AA shopping list, I am a little blue today. I had to take one of my cats to the vet and we found that he had a tumor growing by his heart. We decided to put him to sleep this afternoon. He was definitely an older cat but he was a great guy. So after 14 years rest in peace Smokey, you were a cool dude.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and also their st. patty’s day. Mine definitely didn’t suck. As for the photo shoot that happened on Wednesday, well, it didn’t go as well as planned but I’ll be able to use the shots I got and do more prep for the shoot in April.

Currently I am window shopping online at Forever 21 in prep for a little shopping adventure next week. Hmm there are waaaaay too many things I would love to purchase, must keep myself in check.

Ok so to the real point of this post. I have decided to go back to school but I think I need some help narrowing down the choices. I’ve looked on fashion school review websites but they don’t really seem to review anything. Blah. So here are the potential schools in no particular order.
